Vehicle Description This 1952 very rare, desirable Volkswagen Beetle 1100 de Luxe Sedan was the final year with split rear window (Splitty).
This Beetle is particularly rare also due to the oval dashboard that was originally made for the 1953 model There is a wicker under dash tray and period correct luggage.
The rear window of the VW Beetle evolved from a divided or split oval, to a singular oval.
The change occurred between October 1952 and March 1953.
Beetles built during this time were known as a Zwitter, or hybrid, as they used the split-window body shell with oval-model chrome trim, vent windows and dashboard.
Documentation includes original owner's manual and VW birth certificate,.
It was built on November 4, 1952 and left the factory on November 5, 1952.
It has a certificate of authenticity from Stiftung Auto Museum Volkswagen Stiftung.
This car's paint (Dove Blue) and trim are nearly flawless; this car looks simple and elegant.
The goodies on this vehicle include:
hydraulic disc brakes (Standard models were cable-actuated manual), chromed grooved bumpers and trim painted to match exterior (Standard had primer-colored bumpers), chromed hubcaps (primer), polished grooved exterior trim, chromed headlamp trim, polished aluminum windshield trim, ivory-colored interior appointments (Standard were black), two-spoke steering wheel (three on Standard), a dash-mounted eight-day clock, (metal plate covered hole in dash), driver-side sun visor, rear ashtray, sliding adjustable front seats (bolted to chassis), plated inside mirror, and other brightwork.
The grey front buckets and rear bench seat are in excellent shape, as is the carpet, headliner and two-spoke steering wheel and horn button.
The instrument panel, with its VDO gauges and inner door panels are all in fantastic conditions.
Another lovely extra is the extensive 'Hazet' tool kit, integrated into the spare wheel.
It also comes with a convertible engine cover (to facilitate cooling in warm climates) as well as the original engine cover which was painted at the same time as the car.
This is an audio delete model (no radio).
Current mileage on the odometer shows 50,964 miles.
It has a 25 HP engine.
The engine and body have been restored in 2018.
It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title.
