Statement of Major Duties (include but not limited to):
The Physician, Geriatrics & Extended Care, works as an Attending Physician in the Hospice/Palliative Care Neighborhood in Lake City Community Living Center (CLC), taking care of Veterans who need Inpatient hospice care or palliative symptom management. The Physician will manage admission, discharge, and routine care of our Veterans. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician will also help coordinate care with other members of the Interdisciplinary Team and with Specialists inside and outside the VA. The Physician will provide education on disease process, medications, and care needs to Veterans, families and staff. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician acts as a point of contact for Veterans, families, and staff for issues related to Palliative Care. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician will lead the Palliative Care Consult Team in Lake City, perform Palliative Care consultations, screen Veterans for hospice unit admission and provide input on CLC admission as needed. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician helps track outcomes, monitor and report trends to improve quality of care in the CLC. Duties also include clinical supervision and instruction of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants as needed in an Interdisciplinary Team setting. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician will serve as a resource for Veterans, families, and staff for issues related to their stay in the Hospice/Palliative Care neighborhood. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician may also help with patient care needs in other areas of Geriatrics and Extended Care as needed. The Geriatrics & Extended Care Physician will assume the responsibilities listed below:
Histories, examinations, assessments and plans for outpatients coordinating all evaluations, diagnostic testing, clinical follow up, and care coordination Lead the Palliative Care Team in Palliative Care Consults the day-to-day management of Veterans in the Hospice Palliative Care neighborhood Promote an atmosphere of efficiency and accuracy in the timeliness of submission of completed documents Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistant, Ancillary Health Care Providers, and various clinical Specialties. Help facilitate hospital admissions, post discharge care and specialty consultations as needed Participate in screening of Veterans and completion of consults for Palliative Care Participate in call schedule for telephonic coverage for urgent needs of Veterans in the Palliative Care and the Community Living Center (CLC) after administrative hours Participate in Interdisciplinary Team meetings Participate in other clinical duties as assigned by the ACOS for Geriatrics & Extended Care Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The work requires occasional periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. The incumbent must be capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on Veteran needs.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
