The Secretary within the Police Service at the VAMC is responsible for preparing statistical graphs, maintaining suspense files and serving as the principal timekeeper communicating with Police supervisors to establish accurate data for departmental usage. These duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:
Maintain the suspense file by preparing correspondence, statistical graphs, logs, and reports. Gather, input and organize data from available information systems and other sources and, when necessary, establish new data collection procedures for specific programmatic activities or for programmatic evaluation. Maintain smooth flow of oral and written communications; follow up on time commitments, data, and special projects coming into Police Service; provide telephone and receptionist services. Assist with departmental travel arrangements including visits to various sites for staff meetings, meetings with local law enforcement agencies and city officials, management seminars and professional education. Receive significant amounts of incoming department guidelines, directives, handbooks, information letters and other official information. Serve as the principal timekeeper for time and attendance communicating with their supervisor and Human Resources to obtain guidance and information that is needed to carry out these responsibilities. The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Qualifying specialized experienceis defined as:

Work is mostly sedentary, but does require some walking and standing for a few minutes at a time several times a day processing paperwork, filing, etc. Minor lifting of 5 lbs. or less, carrying files, paper supplies and manuals. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
